The hands-on Lean qualification. Lead kaizen events, build current-state and future-state value-stream maps, write A3s, design standard work and run pull/Kanban systems. Built for team leaders, supervisors and improvement specialists.
Lean Practitioner
If you already lead — or are about to lead — Lean improvement projects, Lean Practitioner is built for you. You'll come out able to facilitate a kaizen event end-to-end, build a value-stream map, deliver a single-page A3, design standard work and stand up a Kanban / pull system in your area.
Lean Practitioner takes 4-6 weeks at about 4-5 hours per week. It is fully self-paced, with quizzes at the end of every module and a final knowledge test. You get a personalised certificate when you pass.
It builds directly on Lean Associate (£95) and progresses naturally to Advanced Lean Practitioner (£265). The full Lean Suite (£285) gives you all three with a £240 saving.
Quick recap of waste, 5S and value-stream thinking, then the role of the Practitioner — gemba walks, coaching kata, leading a small team.
Build a real current-state map of your own process, calculate value-add ratio and takt, and design the future state.
Plan, run and close out a kaizen event — agenda, ground rules, RACI, waste walk, idea generation, pilot, and 30-day follow-up.
Write a standard-work combination sheet, build visual boards, and create the conditions for sustained improvement.
Replace push scheduling with pull. Size and run a Kanban system. Reduce WIP and lead time.
Single-page A3 storyboard, root-cause tools (5 Whys, fishbone, Pareto), countermeasure selection and check phase.
Final knowledge test (multi-attempt). Pass and instantly download your personalised SimplicityHub Lean Practitioner certificate plus a LinkedIn-ready badge.
Lean Practitioner is hands-on training. It expects you to actively lead an improvement event or VSM exercise during the course — and gives you the templates, AI Coach feedback and worked examples to do it well first time.
Practitioners run focused 1-5 day improvement events with a small team, delivering measurable wins (lead time, defects, cost, capacity).
Lead the current-state and future-state VSM workshops that set the direction for the next 6-12 months of improvement work.
Replace push scheduling with pull, size and run Kanban, and cut WIP — the core operational delivery skill of a Lean Practitioner.
Lean Practitioner is the operational engine of any Lean transformation. Associates contribute, Advanced Practitioners design strategy — Practitioners are the ones running the events, building the VSMs and turning the strategy into daily operating habits.
Team leaders, supervisors, CI specialists, ops managers and project leads who actually run improvement work — kaizen events, VSM workshops, Kanban rollouts, A3s.
4-6 weeks at 4-5 hours per week. Fully self-paced.
No, but it's recommended. Practitioner assumes you understand waste, 5S and basic value-stream thinking — Associate covers all of that.
Practitioner is pure Lean — flow, kaizen, VSM, A3, Kanban. Green Belt blends Lean with statistical Six Sigma tools (process capability, hypothesis testing, control charts). Many improvement leads take both.
